Faith That Trusts in a Loving God, Not a Distant Judge
Do You Know God Loves You?
It's a simple question, yet it's one of the most powerful and life-changing truths we will ever encounter: Do you know that God loves you? But let me take it a step further—Do you only know it in your head, or do you truly believe it in your heart? Has this truth become personal to you?
Many of us who follow Jesus have heard countless times that “God loves you.” It’s written in songs, preached from pulpits, and highlighted in Scripture. But there is a great difference between knowing and believing. Knowledge is awareness, but belief is conviction. It’s one thing to read in the Bible that “God so loved the world,” but it’s a whole different reality to say, God loves me, and I live every moment of my life grounded in that love.
Why Are My Prayers Still Unanswered?
As believers, we pray, we fast, we speak in faith, and we wait. And yet sometimes, the answers to our prayers seem delayed—or never seem to arrive at all. It can be discouraging, even confusing. “Why, Lord?” we cry. “I’ve done everything right. Why haven’t I received my breakthrough?”
Yes, God sometimes allows our faith to be tested. But let us be clear—not all faith is tested, and God is not a relentless examiner waiting to fail us at every turn. He is not some distant figure keeping score of how many times you prayed or whether you gave your tithe on time. That’s not who He is.
So, if God isn’t testing all faith, why are we waiting so long for our answers?
The Trap of Performance-Based Faith
The problem for many of us lies not in our praying, but in what we are basing our faith on
When delays come, we begin to examine ourselves:
“Maybe my faith isn’t strong enough.”
“Maybe I didn’t give enough.”
“Did I pray long enough? Did I wake up early enough to read the Bible?”
“Maybe God is angry with me.”
Soon, the focus of our faith turns inward. It becomes about me my actions, my discipline, my performance. And when that happens, faith becomes weak, unstable, and fragile. Because any faith that is based on your performance is not genuine faith.
True faith is not about what you do. True faith is about who you trust
Faith Begins Where the Revelation of Love Lives
To grow real, unwavering faith, you must first be rooted in the revelation of God's love for you You must allow the Holy Spirit to show you:
1. How much God loves you
2. How much His grace is available to you
3. Who He is and what He can do
When your eyes are fixed on these three things, no one will have to remind you to have faith in God. You will naturally trust Him because you will know He is good. You will know He is faithful. You will know
He loves you unconditionally and eternally.
You Can’t Trust a God You Think Is Angry at You
Let’s be honest: you can never trust someone you believe hates you or is constantly upset with you. If you’re always walking on eggshells, you won’t feel secure.
It’s the same with God.
If deep down you believe that God is angry at you, disappointed in you, or waiting to punish you, then you will never be able to fully trust Him. You may pray, but your prayers will be clouded by fear. You may try to believe, but your faith will constantly be shaken by guilt and doubt.
But when you know really know that God loves you, you will run to Him with confidence. You will speak to Him freely, expecting His goodness. Your faith will grow strong, not because of what you do, but because of who He is to you
He Delights in Blessing His Children
Jesus said in Matthew 7:11, If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!
He is not withholding His blessings to punish you. He is not distant or disinterested. On the contrary, He loves to give good gifts to His children. But we must believe that we are loved in order to receive them.
Just as a child naturally trusts a loving parent, so must we trust our loving Father.
Faith That Flows from Love
Friends, the truth is this: good things happen to those who believe that God loves them. This isn’t just a spiritual theory—it’s a Kingdom principle. Faith that flows from a place of love is powerful, genuine, and unshakable.
So today, stop asking yourself, “Have I done enough?”
Instead, ask, Do I believe that God loves me?
Because everything changes when you do.
Closing Prayer
Holy Spirit, give me a deeper revelation of how much I am loved by God. Remove every lie that says I must earn His approval. Teach me to rest in His love and trust in His goodness. I surrender all my striving, and I place my faith not in my performance, but in the finished work of Jesus and the unfailing love of my Father. In Jesus' name, Amen.
